Spanish courses, cultural class: Las Fallas de Valencia

Our Spanish teacher, Cristina Martí, she is from Valencia, explain to our Spanish students about this famous festival: Las Fallas.

In commemoration of  Saint Joseph in the city of  Valencia, in Spain, celebrate Las Fallas. It’s  a festival full of traditions, color and noise of firecrackers .The term  refers to both the celebration and the monuments created during the four days leading up to 19 March.

The Casal faller is a name referd to each neighbourhood of the city  that  is organized for a group of people that works all year long holding fundraising parties and dinners, including the famous  paella, that is original of this region. Each casal faller produces a construction known as a falla which is eventually burnt.

A number of towns in the Valencian Country have Fallas also.
